Going The Extra Mile - Sydney Newton Bremer (motivation)

"If the swing goes forward it will come backward too."
-SINGHALESE PROVERB.

The law of Cause and Effect tells us that our reward in life will always be in exact proportion to our contributions
"Give and Ye shall receive." How simple the statement, yet how far-reaching the law! We need to note what was clearly implied in the words, that what we give to others, is given us in return, not only

Nature is evenly balanced. We cannot disturb the equilibrium, for we know that the law of Cause and Effect is the unerring and inexorable law of nature; but we do fail to find our own equilibrium as nations, and as individuals, because we have not yet learned that the same law works inexorably in human life and in society as in nature- that what we sow, we must inevitably reap.

Every act of our lives is like the living seed - it produces after its own kind. No man is so foolish as to think he can cheat nature. If he plants rice he does not expect to get potatoes; he knows that the Olive tree will not bear figs or the Rosebush yield wheat. And yet we all imagine that we are cunning enough to chest ourselves. We think we can act or speak in certain manner then go our way and forget it, as though it had never been. But every act of life, however trivial, remains like the seed to sprout and grow, and produce influences whose far-reaching effects can scarcely be dreamed.

As you perform your daily tasks, render more and better service than that for which you are paid. When the acts of going the Extra-Mile come back to you with compounded interest added, you will be glad you did.

Ps:
I first learned about the word "Engram" from Ron L. Hubbard's work on his "Church of Scientology" thesis.....
